The ICGU Corporate Governance Awards are here again! The Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda (ICGU) in partnership with Grant Thornton, Uganda (GT) brings to you the 2nd ICGU Corporate Governance Awards, 2021.
The Awards are scheduled for Thursday, 26th May 2022 at Sheraton Kampala Hotel. under the Theme “CORPORATE GOVERNANCE: RECOGNIZING ADHERENCE TO BEST PRACTICES DURING THE COVID 19 PANDEMIC”
ICGU in partnership with GT will recognize organizations with outstanding achievements in adherence and observance of Corporate Governance practices during the COVID 19 Pandemic.
The Awards play an important role in encouraging improvements in the quality of Corporate Governance, help organisations to reflect on the changing attitudes and expectations among stakeholders, assess their ESG attitude, their strategic approach to the pandemic.
ICGU leadership understands that the best way to help corporate entities, government and the economy at large is to recognize entities that adhere, observe, practice and demonstrate corporate governance best practices.
How to Participate;
Organizations should fill the “Expression of Interest (EOI) Form” on the website www.icgu.org and email to firstname.lastname@example.org or call 0782239754. The form should be returned by 25th April, 2022.
Who can Participate;
This year, organizations can participate in the following categories;
- Large Private Sector Enterprise – Annual turnover in excess of Ugx.20 billion.
- Small & Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) – Annual turnover less than Ugx. 20bn
- Public Sector Enterprise (Ministries, Directorates and Agencies)
- Non-Governmental Organization
- Insurance Companies
- Banks & MDIs
The Awards assessment process is independent, transparent, free and fair, it is critical to the long-term success of ICGU, our Award partner Grant Thornton, Uganda and all the sponsors. Organizations voluntarily apply to participate and to be assessed. The ICGU CG Awards Judges’ Committee is solely responsible for selecting winners. The judges’ decision is final and no amount of negotiations can count. The ICGU CG Awards assessment will be concluded with a Corporate Governance Sector by Sector report. The report will be a cornerstone for the “State of Corporate Governance in Uganda”.
An independent ICGU CG Awards Assessment team will visit and assess willing enterprises on excellence in observance and adherence to Corporate Governance principles and practices amidst the challenges posed by the COVID 19 pandemic. The information collected will be confidential and no single company data will be used for publications.
